Who We Are

National Coverage

Presbyterian Support is made up of seven autonomous regional organisations making a difference together across New Zealand under the Presbyterian Support banner.

Service emphasis varies between the regions but our core activities concentrate on assisting youth in need, children and families; and elderly people through residential and community services. Three regions offer services for people with physical disabilities and one operates a hospice for terminally ill people and their families.

Presbyterian Support seeks to enrich quality of life in the communities we serve by meeting social needs that are not otherwise adequately being met.

Presbyterian Support regional organisations are incorporated societies registered under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957. The earliest regional organisation was founded in 1906 while the most recent was established in 1946.

National Council

The National Council is the governing body of Presbyterian Support New Zealand and is comprised of two representatives from each of the seven regional organisations.

Northern - Rod Watts, Stewart Milne

East Coast - Shaun Robinson, Ron Hall

Central - Chris Graham, Helen Trim

Upper South Island - Vaughan Milner, Pat Edward

South Canterbury - Michael Parker, Jim Pearce

Otago - Gillian Bremner, Frazer Barton

Southland - Peter Wards, Robin Campbell

Independent

Presbyterian Support shares a common heritage with the Presbyterian Church and many of our financial supporters and volunteers are Presbyterians. However we are independent and responsible for raising our own funds for our services and determining the direction of those services.

Available to All

Central to Presbyterian Support is that our services are offered to all in the community, regardless of race, beliefs or background. You don't have to be Presbyterian to be supported by, work for, or support Presbyterian Support.

Northern, East Coast, Central, Upper South Island, South Canterbury, Otago or Southland.

Making a Difference Together

Presbyterian Support seeks to make positive and lasting differences in the lives of New Zealanders in need, whoever they are.
