The 2009 Midlands Hawke's Bay Charity Wine Auction which was held over Queens Birthday Weekend raised a phenominal $160,625 for Cranford Hospice.
The auction was attended by over 270 people and the bidding was feverish for the 39 lots that had been donated by Hawke's Bay wineries.
The Charity Wine Auction Painting, 'the Harlequin and the Magpie' by John Staniford, was also auctioned and achieved $7,700.
This is the 18th year the event has run and this total represents the third highest total achieved, which is significant in the current economic climate.
