The Placemakers Charity Auction was held on Friday 9th April where $36,270 has been pledged for Cranford Hospice.
"We are extremely grateful to the Hawke's Bay Registered Master Builders who chose Cranford Hospice to be the recipient charity of the Placemakers Auction," says Karla Sewter, Cranford Event Manager. "Our thanks also to the sponsors who donated fantastic items."
"On the completion of the auction regional associations came forward with donations for Cranford Hospice over and above the auctioned items, this gained momentum to include building suppliers. Effectively another $18,000 of the final fundraised funds was contributed in this way - amazing. In my event management experience this has never happened before," added Karla. "These guys challenged each other and created a vibe and hype that was special to the night, all creating an outstanding result."
"Brendon Pongia made his debut as auctioneer which included dancing with a bidder's wife for an extra $500 on stage in the middle of the auction. The delegates responed well to his cheeky and entertaining style which contributed to the result."
The funds raised will go towards refurnishing patient rooms at Cranford Hospice that are in need of an intense upgrade.
