Enliven Services available in Tairawhiti

Enliven Tairawhiti Day Programmes

Are you are looking for a way to stay in your own home longer? Would good company, laughter and stimulating, fun activities help you achieve this? The Enliven Tairawhiti Day Programmes could be just what you’re looking for.

Offered in Gisborne the programme is focused on reconnecting older people with their communities, providing opportunities for social interaction and various activities and outings, and supporting you to achieve other goals.

The Day Programmes offers:

  • A range of activities based on clients' interests and hobbies
  • Individually prescribed physical activity programme
  • Registered Nurse and Physiotherapist oversight
  • Frequent outings, as well as opportunities to join other community groups for activities
  • Transportation to and from the Day Programme, if required
  • Morning and afternoon tea
  • A choice of a hot meal and dessert.

We can cater for participants who are self-referred or referred by the local Needs Assessment and Service Co-ordination agency and are:

  • Mobile enough to be collected by a driver
  • Have medical conditions able to be looked after by Day Programme staff.

(Other criteria apply, so please check with Enliven staff for more details. Some clients may be eligible for a Government subsidy)

Cost: This programme is funded by Presbyterian Support East Coast; however there is a small charge or $4 per session. (Includes transport)

Enliven Tairawhiti Befriending Service

Are you living alone? Would you like a bit more social contact to support you to remain at home?

Offered in Gisborne the Enliven Befriending Service formerly Random Acts of Kindness) is a partnership between Presbyterian Support East Coast and Mangapapa Parish.

  • You might consider the service if…
  • You live alone
  • You no longer have a driver’s licence
  • You have recently lost a spouse
  • You would enjoy some company

Enliven Befriending Service volunteers can call in with some baking and stop for a chat, or work with you to make or get to an appointment – anything that helps you to keep doing the things that are important to you and helps to ensure you have social interaction.
